Here’s the most important lesson I’ve learned from Gary Vaynerchuk’s content
Gary Vaynerchuk has been instrumental in how I think as an entrepreneur. He’s known for turning his Dad’s liquor store from a $3 million to $60 million business as well as starting a number of other very successful businesses. But his true legacy, in my opinion, is helping small businesses like mine understand content and how to get attention. But there’s one very important lesson that stands out for me.

Success takes time.
Let me explain.
We expect immediate results. Be it when we post something on social media or order something online, we want instant gratification. I’ve seen a lot of people want this in business as well. Starting a business requires time. A new enterprise needs to acquire new customers, establish confidence and ensure that quality of service is at its highest. Moreover, the business landscape we operate in is in a constant state of flux: new technologies, regulations and even players affect how confidently we can operate.
So, how does one develop the patience and know when to give up? The easy answer would be to say experience. However, I believe it’s a little more complex than that.
1) One needs to understand their industry.
I run two businesses: one in women’s fashion and jewelry and the other wine and spirits. I have spent countless hours educating myself on the main market players and appreciating the landscape in which we operate in. This has helped me understand the long-term trends of where I am confident the two industries will eventually end up in 5 to 10 years.
2) Listen to the concerns of your target audience.
In jewelry, one of the main concerns our clients have is on the quality of the finishing and stones. We therefore spend a great deal of time educating them on each stone via a weekly newsletter.
3) Trust the process.
If you’ve done your groundwork, the results will be positive.
My hope is that this article has helped you understand that a business takes time to be successful. One needs to be patient with results and work endlessly to establish trust and confidence in your brand.
